About Us
My name is Freddy Tutu Murefu and Tutus Crafts, founded by myself and my business partner Rachel Chiyaka, is more than just a place to discover exquisite art; it is a direct lifeline to the beauty of my cherished home villages, Binga Zimbabwe and Empangeni South Africa. We were founded on a simple, powerful belief: that traditional craftsmanship, when valued, can be the catalyst for sustainable employment and vital family support.
The soul of our collection lies in our own hands and those of our family. At Tutus Crafts, 60% of the artwork is personally created by Rachel and me, while the remaining pieces are handcrafted by my family. We are the guardians of our heritage, possessing skills passed down through generations.
We take great pride in our extraordinary talents, creating every item from Paintings and Hand-woven Tonga baskets to handmade wooden sculptures, traditional jewellery, Recycled soda cans, Telephone wire baskets, Beaded Christmas decorations, Namji dolls and many more. Every piece you see is a testament to our family's skill, dignity, and determination.
When you choose Tutus Crafts, you don’t just bring home art you carry the spirit of resilience, heritage, and hope that we and our family pour into everything we make
